Hm, well, for the past couple days, I've been watching Kekkaishi. I'm on episode 24 out of 52. Here's a summary for u guys real quick, then a little review of the show so far, I guess.
Sumimura Yoshimori is an inheritor of the power to battle demons, using barriers called kekkai - a Kekkaishi. His family is charged with protecting the grounds of Karasumori high school, a building which magnifies the power of demons who enter it, alongside his spirit-wolf companion & next-door neighbor/rival clan's daughter Yukimura Tokine. Years ago, Tokine was injured protecting Yoshimori, and now he's determined to become strong enough to keep her from being hurt again. Of course, he'd rather bake tasty cakes than have to fight demons. It's just fate has something very different in mind... As a mysterious demon organization tries to steal Karasumori's power, can Yoshimori overcome the increasing number of demons, their centuries-old family rivalry, & a grandfather who just can't understand his love for baking sweets?
SPOILERS may exist beyond this point. Even though they're probably pretty MINOR spoilers I have to fairly put the warning up for some people. That's all.
Personally, I thought it was a little difficult to get interested in at first. I kinda abandoned it when I first started watching the show for a long while. But now I'm back to it. I finally endured the first several episodes, & well, now it's not so bad. It's funny, though maybe a bit too silly at times. One of the main characters, Tokine, had an attitude I really didn't like around the beginning. She's not as irritating anymore though, which I am SO thankful for. And the "hero" main character seems rather uninteresting until u watch several episodes. Actually, he's even kinda lame. Eventually, he starts having his "cool" moments, so if u are like me on this opinion, just bear with it for a little bit. That's why I don't think it'll be that bad of an experience in the long run. I think they should put a little bit more romance in it, since, after all, it feels quite apparent that Yoshimori is totally crushing on Tokine. Perhaps even a little bit of the same in reverse. Those 2 might just be a real hopeless case in that aspect, u know... Even I, a viewer, am concerned about their relationship's progress. That's how u know that things are really going nowhere. xD
If u liked Inuyasha, u will probably like this too. (Though Inuyasha is better :P)
Therefore, to sum it up short: Kekkaishi is a silly/funny, demon-butt-kicking anime with a few good mysteries to keep u into it & a kinda lame (& hopeless romantic) "hero" that gradually gets a bit cooler over the course of the series.
